Dr. Alexandra Channing

Dr. Channing is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She specializes in non-invasive cardiac imaging. Her interests include the prenatal and postnatal diagnosis of congenital and acquired heart disease with the use of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, fetal echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR). She has a special interest in caring for children with connective tissue diseases such as Marfan and Loey-Dietz syndromes. She serves as co-director of the connective tissue disease program at the Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Channing received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She subsequently received a Master of Science degree in Chemistry with a Biological concentration from the University of Pennsylvania. She received a medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.  She then completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of California – San Francisco (UCSF) and her Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She remained at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to complete advanced training in non-invasive cardiac imaging, focused in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, fetal echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR).
